Log In Troubles
Suggested Solution #1
Hi Everyone,
We know there have been some issues with logging into our Member page through Explorer 8. We're working with our service provider to see if we can get that resolved.
In the meantime, there are two browsers that work just fine--Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. So what you do is open Internet Explorer like you always do to get on the Internet. Then you can either go to a search page (like Google or Yahoo) and type in "Firefox" that will give you a link to the Mozilla Firefox download page . . . or you can click on this link http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ie.html?from=getfirefox
You will see a picture of a fox with his tail wrapped around the earth, it says "Firefox 3.6 Free Download." Don't be worried about putting this on your computer, it's a great browser and actually highly recommended by several friends of mine that do computer tech for a living. After you click the download box, just follow the steps it takes you through to get the program put onto your computer.
Now when you want to check our website, log onto the Member directory etc., you will click on the Firefox icon on your desktop NOT Internet Explorer. Type in our www.wintersetcommunitychurch.org and once you get to our page, click on the Member section. If you've forgotten your password, let me know and I can send you a reminder.
Also, while you're there--please take a second to check that your contact info (email address, phone number) and family info is up to date.
Google Chrome is the other option, here's the link: http://www.google.com/chrome Same instructions as above.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions :)
Suggested Solution #2
From time to time, you might find that "My WCC" still won't let you access the website. I have no explanation for this, but it is a recurring problem. Help Desk recommends deleting your temporary internet files, restarting your computer and trying again. Eventually you will regain access, it's just an odd quirk.
Here's how you do it:
With your Internet open, on the top of the page you'll see a strip of words that say "File" "Edit" "View" "Favorites" "Tools" "Help."
Click on 'Tools' and then 'Internet Options' and choose the 'General' tab.
Then click on "Delete..." under "Browsing history".
In the 'Temporary Internet files' section, click 'Delete Files...'.
You will then get a dialogue box asking if you want to delete just the temporary files, or all offline content. Choose the latter and click 'OK'.
If you want to, you can delete your entire history, cookies, temporary internet files etc. (that will be the "Delete All" button on the bottom. There is a description of each thing you're deleting if you want to go tab by tab.
Everything in the browser history is for convenience. You don't need these, but deleting everything will erase any other passwords you have saved (like if you automatically log in to your email account just by clicking on it). So make sure you know them or have them written down somewhere before you do that.
I would restart the computer after you delete everything and then try logging in again--let me know how it goes! Feel free to email the church secretary address with any further questions and we'll see what we can do :o)
