Renovations Underway at WCC

Bring on the construction crew—as promised, the warehouse on the corner of South 2nd and E. Washington is getting ready for an interior and exterior makeover. After months of planning, meeting with architects, and taking bids on the renovation—the congregation at Winterset Community Church selected Winterset contractor Dan Bush and his company, Newcastle Construction, to complete the building’s transformation.

On Saturday, volunteer churchgoers spent the better part of the day spurring the job forward with a good bit of demolition. A garage on the adjoining property (also owned by WCC) came down with a crash to make way for an extended sanctuary on the building’s east side. Inside, brick walls and ceiling panels were pushed and carried into industrial-sized dumpsters to be toted away.

The project is projected to take about four months. Expect to see improvements to the landscaping, sidewalks, and the exterior appearance of the former auto-garage. While the renovations are taking place, the congregation will meet at the new Francis and Thelma Jackson Community Building on the Madison County Fairgrounds for a single service at 9:30 a.m. Updates on church events can be found at www.wintersetcommunitychurch.org
