Thanksgiving Potluck 2008
On Sunday, November 23rd, friends and family from Winterset Community Church gathered together to celebrate the season of Thanksgiving.
At noon, the well-attended event filled our temporary church-home (the Jackson Community Building) with laughter and conversation. A food-laden table stretched the width of the echoing room, but with so many folks to feed, not much remained when the line slowly dwindled as the lunch-hour passed.
Children took a break from their exuberant play only to gaze with hopeful eyes at the delicious desserts anchoring the far end of the potluck fare. Chocolate smudged cheeks and fingers soon ran off to rejoin the fun on the makeshift stage set up at one end of the bright room.
All in all it was pleasant to spend the afternoon in each other's company, remembering how many blessings and people we have to thank our God for, and not only this week when we have a major holiday to remind us--but every week of the year.
Happy Thanksgiving!
