Womens' Christmas Breakfast 2008
On Saturday, December 13th, the ladies of Winterset Community Church gathered with friends and neighbors at the Sports Page in Winterset. It was a new venue, as the church is currently wrapping up renovations, but the cranberry-colored banquet room suited the Christmas mood nicely. The women's Christmas breakfast is always a much-anticipated opportunity to sit, relax, enjoy conversation with friends, and refocus on the true meaning and purpose of Christmas--celebrating Christ's birth.
This year nearly 80 ladies, found their seats at tables decorated simply with family nativity scenes. Breakfast, served buffet-style, included eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, pastries, and fruit.
As the plates were cleared away, Melissa Kiburz, the morning's organizer, host, and guest speaker took the stage. She welcomed and thanked everyone for coming, then proceeded to announce the winners of the morning's gift drawing.
Now expecting her fifth child, Melissa shared with the ladies the circumstances surrounding the birth of her first son, and how God used that time in her life to draw her to Himself.
Four boys into it, Kent and Melissa are hoping for a daughter in the spring, (but aren't holding their breath :) They are simply thankful for God's love and presence in their ever-growing family.
When Melissa's testimony drew to a close, Bill Brookhart led a time of worship and Christmas carols. At the event's conclusion, ladies left refreshed and ready to start their Christmas preparations once again.
By the way, if you missed the breakfast, Jess Kleemeier recorded it and DVD copies are available. Merry Christmas!
